Sir Marcus
Sir Marcus
Once there was a knight, named Sir Marcus. Sir Marcus was a great knight, in fact he even was one of the greatest knights throughout many kingdoms. He was a very brave man and always did good. Well known he was for his great actions, rescuing countless princesses from evil wizards and slaying many dragons. After many years he was so high valued that he even was going to marry a princess he had saved from one of great black dragons. But the king made one request before the marriage could take place: Sir Marcus had to travel to a far away country and bring a present for his future wife. Without hesitation Sir Marcus began his journy and was gone for a long long time. When Sir Marcus finally came back to the kindom, he had brought a wonderful jewel, shimmering in all colors of the rainbow for the princess. Looking forward to the marriage he returned to the castle – just to find it totally changed. Nobody remembered him nor any of his great actions. The people did not even appreciate knights anymore. So when Sir Marcus went before the king and asked about the marriage the king just replied his daughter wouldn‘t marry any unneeded sword swinger. Since there were no dragons anymore and no evil wizards there was nothing to be done for brave knights like Sire Marcus was one. Sadly Sir Marcus began to travel all over the kingdoms in search for somebody that needed him. But he could not find anybody. With time his shimmering armor went rusty and his once fierce blade became dull. At the end he even had to sell it to be able to pay for a few simple meals. Same went for his once mighty horse. As he would never had stolen anything and he was too proud to beg he soon was very week since he had not eaten for days. It was then as he covering pressed against a wall at the side of the street and fought with the overwhelming hunger, when a young man came along the road. The young man saw the miserable looking knight and asked him who he was. Sir Marcus answered he was a knight who had slayn many dragons and rescued many princesses but the young man just laughed. He said that knights were not needed anymore since everybody would solve their problems with sciens now. And then he said something that Sir Marcus replied many times after the young man had gone again and before he got to weak and fell all silent: “Out with the old, in with the new.”
